What is Ganoderma?

• Ganoderma lucidum or reishi is a mushroom.

• Ganoderma lucidum is also called Reishi (in Japan) or Ling Zhi (in China); it originates from Asia.
  In Asia, reishi is called "the mushroom of longevity".

• Renowned for millennia, this mushroom is traditionally reputed in China to help protect people against infections and epidemics.
  It symbolises luck, wealth.
  It is credited with the ability to balance and strengthen qi, vital energy, which plays a role throughout the body.
  In TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is used to combat fatigue, stimulate immunity, for the respiratory tract and the blood system.
  
  
• Reishi grows on dead wood or at the base of certain living trees, mainly deciduous species such as oak, maples, and willows.
  This mushroom favours humid areas with a temperate or subtropical climate.
  Recognisable by its cap, 4 to 20 cm, yellow then reddish brown in colour, with a varnished wood appearance. It is rounded.
