• Sisymbrium officinale, formerly called "Herbe au chantre" (Chantre herb), is a species of plant from the Crucifer family.
  It can reach 90 cm.
  Its stem is stiff and branched and bears alternate leaves, divided into lobes.
  The flowers appear from May to September and are rather small.
• In antiquity it was attributed many qualities; even Pliny the Elder mentions it in his writings and at that time orators and actors used it against loss of voice.
• The leaves have been used in cooking, raw or cooked.
