What is MSM?

A source of sulphur

MSM, Methylsulfonylmethane, is a sulphur-rich compound naturally present in our body and in nature. It is found in small amounts in many foods such as milk, egg, pepper or onion, and in certain plants like horsetail.

It is thus supplied by our diet but its high sensitivity to heat means it is now scarcely present in many industrially processed or simply cooked foods, which is why supplementation may prove useful.

It comes in the form of a white powder, with a bitter taste, which can be consumed mixed with a drink to lessen the taste.

MSM is used in animal feed. The FDA recognises it as a source of bioavailable sulphur.
