What is MSM?
It is a main constituent of our body after water and sodium.
Methylsulfonylmethane or MSM is a naturally occurring organic sulphur compound present in all living organisms.
It participates in many metabolisms of the body.
Sulphur is present in large amounts in the collagen of the skin, joints and blood vessels. But its concentration in the body decreases with age.
In the joints, it participates in the synthesis of chondroitin sulphates, glucosamine and hyaluronic acid which give cartilage its elasticity.
MSM is a sulphur compound present in small amounts in many foods: fruits, vegetables, maize, milk and its derivatives, meat, seafood, tea, coffee, chocolate.
However, with fertilisers, pesticides and cooking of food, the dietary intake of sulphur compounds is low.
