Klamath algae: rich in nutrients

This rare and precious algae is a recent discovery.
It is a cyanobacterium, like spirulina, but unlike the latter, it is not cultivated.
It is therefore only found in the wild state, often in very small quantities.

There is however one exception, Klamath Lake in Oregon, where a particular variety, AFA, develops thanks to the very specific conditions of this lake fed by springs descending from the surrounding volcanic mountains.

The geographical and geological characteristics of Klamath Lake form an ecosystem favourable to the growth of this algae.
Purity of the waters, neutral pH, sun and clean air offer this algae the ideal conditions to thrive.

Discovered by an amateur botanist in the 1970s, its marketing as a dietary supplement dates back to the 1980s.

This algae has a very high richness in essential nutrients and thus contains:

  • proteins containing all the amino acids useful to the human body and notably Glutamine, beneficial for the digestive tract
  • lipids with a majority of omega-3
  • all vitamins (except vitamin D) with a high concentration of B vitamins
  • antioxidants and carotenoids
  • minerals
  • active pigments such as chlorophyll
  • nutrients and polysaccharides

All the components of the Klamath algae form a natural and coherent whole and this synergy makes it very active in the human body, notably at the level of cell signalling.
Its action is therefore felt on immunity, inflammation, the nervous system, general metabolism and body regeneration.

Klamath algae therefore help to address certain dietary deficiencies, increase resistance to infectious diseases, support the psyche and mental activity, and stimulate the body's regeneration capacity.
The many testimonials of the benefits of this algae, notably in people suffering from mental degeneration (Alzheimer's disease for example), have led the scientific community to more in-depth research.

Klamath, an exceptional nutrient, therefore still has many secrets to reveal to us.
