Grapefruit Seed Extract: Anti-bacterial and Anti-viral
Grapefruit seed extract is effective against bacteria, viruses, yeasts and fungi as well as various parasites.
Natural Antibiotic
Dr J Harich, physicist and immunologist, Einstein Prize laureate, observed in 1980 that grapefruit seeds did not rot in his compost. Intrigued, he conducted studies in his laboratory and quickly realised that grapefruit seeds proved to be both more powerful and less harmful than any known antibiotic.
Research revealed an incredible spectrum of action. Effective against bacteria, viruses, yeasts and fungi, as well as various parasites, whereas the action of conventional antibiotics was limited to bacteria.
The action of 100% grapefruit seed extract extends to about 800 strains of bacteria and viruses and about 100 strains of fungi, as well as a very large number of unicellular parasites. This is a unique score.
Analyses carried out between 1991 and 1993 in the United States on a grapefruit seed extract composed of 60% seeds and 40% vegetable glycerine demonstrated its effectiveness on numerous cultures of: bacteria, fungi and yeasts, and microorganisms...
The different families of active ingredients identified through a chromatography technique are:
- coumarins
- flavonoids
- terpenes,
- amino acids.
Very important: it is the synergy of these active ingredients that gives the product all its effectiveness and not a single isolated one.
There are many different products on the market and it is not easy to find your way because manufacturers compete with tricks to highlight their product.
Thus, many manufacturers guarantee a flavonoid content, which does not seem sufficient to me. We have seen that, as with any natural product, it is the synergy of the components that ensures the maximum effectiveness of the active ingredient and not just one of them. To find your way, you should know that only the grapefruit seed does not rot, unlike the pulp and the skin.
The criterion that therefore seems the most reliable lies in a high concentration of grapefruit seeds, which few suppliers clearly indicate.
To be complete, let us add that the list of ingredients is always in descending order.
For example, a composition: "glycerine, water, ascorbic acid, grapefruit seed extract" indicates that grapefruit seed comes in fourth position. It is not, by far, the major ingredient.
So, to preserve your Health capital, think of grapefruit seed extract.
