Liver: a key organ!

The liver ensures balance and internal stability of the human body and nearly 500 functions are carried out by this organ. Better understand it

The role of the liver

We are not always aware of the importance of the liver for our body.
The liver ensures balance and internal stability of the human body and nearly 500 functions are carried out by this organ.
Its role is therefore of the utmost importance and makes it a key organ, a true factory of the body.

It is one of the heaviest organs of the body (about 1.5kg), located in the upper right part of the abdomen.
Its reddish-brown colour reflects significant vascularisation and permanent blood supply. Indeed, 1.4 litres of blood per minute pass through the liver, enabling it to perform one of its main functions: detoxification of the blood by transforming and eliminating harmful substances.

The liver therefore works in close connection with other organs such as the intestines, kidneys, and the
Gallbladder.
The elimination of toxins and waste from the body necessarily passes through the intestines, hence the importance of helping the liver to maintain its processing capacities.

Besides its detoxification role, the liver also participates in the synthesis of proteins such as albumin, coagulation factors, certain immune proteins.
The liver also ensures the production of hepatic cholesterol, a vital resource for the human body allowing the production of hormones (oestrogens, testosterones…) as well as the constitution of cell membranes.

The liver also performs a function of regulating the body's energy by regulating glucose, either by storing it or releasing it into the body.
Finally, the liver stores certain vitamins and mineral salts such as iron or copper.

All these activities reveal to us the importance of taking care of the liver.
Besides a good lifestyle, a number of plants have beneficial virtues on liver function.
Notably, we can mention the artichoke, the dandelion, the milk thistle
So do not hesitate to use them, alone or mixed, at the first signs of liver congestion or at times of seasonal changes favourable to cleansing cures.
