Krill Oil: sensitive joints
Krill is a tiny crustacean from which an oil with antioxidant power is extracted. Discover all its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-cholesterol properties
Do you know Krill?
Krill is a tiny crustacean from which an oil with antioxidant power is extracted. Various clinical studies show that krill oil relieves sensitive joints, reduces triglyceride levels, bad cholesterol and even the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.
The virtues of omega 3 have long been known but those contained in krill stand out due to better antioxidant action as well as facilitated transport and assimilation by the body thanks to the phospholipids contained in krill. Its richness comes from its origin since this crustacean is caught in the depths of the Antarctic, an environment, in principle, preserved from pollutants.
A 2004 study conducted in Canada highlighted the action of krill oil on lipids, cholesterol and triglycerides at a dose of 1 to 3 grams per day. It should be recalled that cholesterol is actually a substance useful to the human body (hormonal functions, synthesis of vitamin D, constituent of the cell membrane, lubrication of the bile duct…).
More than the quantity of cholesterol, it is the quality of it that matters, hence the interest of krill oil which provides both omega 3s and antioxidants. But its action is also felt on the joints by reducing stiffness and joint sensitivities thanks to its anti-inflammatory virtues and the role of phospholipids in the joint fluid. The main antioxidant contained in krill is astaxanthin, a substance from the carotenoid family.
Other studies have highlighted the interest of krill oil on brain functions (memory, mental capacities, fatigue…) In summary, krill oil is useful for good cardiovascular and cognitive health. It helps maintain joint mobility and flexibility, contributes to the maintenance of normal bone structure, reduces menopausal symptoms and protects cells against oxidative stress.
Care should be taken to favour krill oil extracted according to the NKO patent guaranteeing optimal product quality: high levels of omega 3 and astaxanthin, natural origin and purity.
Under these conditions, you can once again benefit from the gifts of nature.
