Propolis: what is it?

• Propolis is a protective resin. This substance is collected by bees who bring it back to the hive for various uses. Propolis is used as a cement to glue the different elements of the hive, to seal cracks in the wood, to reduce the flight hole to better control the passage of intruders.
  
  
• Propolis is also used by the bee as a biological control tool. By covering the inside of their habitat with a thin film of this resin, the bees protect themselves from aggressions. They also use it to mummify their predators, true nests of bacteria and germs of all kinds.
  
  
• Propolis has been known and used for a long time.
  The Persians, Greeks, Romans as well as the Incas used it extensively.
  The Egyptians used it in the preparation of ointments for the skin and for the mummification of the dead.
  The Greeks and Romans praised its antiseptic and healing properties.
